Anne Grbic creates these custom Nautilus Shell Mixed Media pieces using Craft Attitude film.
- Print selected image on 1 sheet of Decor Attitude in reverse or mirror image in high quality photo res, let ink dry thoroughly and preferably overnight. This is especially important when layering multiple layers.
- Remove carrier from 2nd sheet of Decor Attitude and cut into 8.5"x8.5" square and remaining offcut into 2 pieces. Save film/skin for use in another mixed media.
- Apply red paint and gold paste onto carrier square using brayer to mix colors and create pattern.
- Place doily on top of painted carrier and repeat applying red paint and gold paste on top lightly allowing doily to show through. Create more texture by applying scrap piece of carrier to paste and quickly pulling paste up. Let painted carrier dry thoroughly, preferably overnight.
- Cut printed nautilus shell image out.
- Apply PVA glue generously to printed side of nautilus shell image.
- Place nautilus shell image on top of prepared carrier with glued image side down, pressing with fingers.
- Peel carrier sheet from nautilus print gently and continue pressing film/skin onto prepped carrier with fingers to adhere to textured surface underneath. Apply sealer over entire piece after 24 hours.
